Local information on things to see and do around Glen DochartWith the numerous visitor attractions in the area, Suie Lodge Hotel is an ideal base from which to go touring and see the best of Scotland.

Edinburgh, Glasgow, Oban, Perth and Stirling are all within an hour and a half, and Loch Lomond and Glencoe can be reached in 30 minutes.

Killin with its famous Dochart Falls and Loch Tay are a 10 minute drive and this lovely village with many shops is a pleasant day out.

Aberfoyle and Loch Katrine provide a wonderful day out with the option of a trip around the Loch on the steamship Sir Walter Scott or spend the day at the Blair Drummond safari park. In fact an excellent place to be central to most of the “must see” Scottish attractions.

Walkers have the choice of many low level walks or for the “Munro Baggers” there are over 30 Munro’s within 30 minutes of the hotel.  There are golf courses, fishing opportunities on the River Dochart and Loch Tay, cycling and water sports available in the area. For something different you could try clay pigeon shooting, events are regularly arranged by the Killin Gun Club.

Fishing permits can be purchased from the hotel for the Suie and Auchlyne Estates stretch of the River Dochart which runs from Loch Lubhair to Auchlyne.  Stalking opportunities are available on the Suie and Auchlyne Estate and other local estates by arrangement.

Visit The Trossachs area

Trossachs.co.uk is a great website for information on The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The are many maps and downloads available on the walking and cycling routes in this area and lots of suggestions on places to visit and things to see and do. Each Village and Town in the National Park and their places of interest are mentioned.

 

Walk Highlands Walk Highlands is a website with comprehensive information on the walks around Suie Lodge and the wider area. It has on-line maps and detailed route information for climbing some of the local mountains with images from some of its members who have done the routes. If you are thinking of doing some of the local Munros then this is a good site to visit.
